Benefit game scores big; more than $4,000 raised in fight against cancer

A benefit girls basketball game at Cranberry Area High School raised $4,232 for the Kirtland Foundation’s efforts to support individuals and families battling cancer. Organized by local resident Melissa Redfield, the Feb. 2 event featured donations from businesses and a 50/50 raffle, marking the third consecutive year Cranberry has hosted the fundraiser. Proceeds will help ease treatment-related financial burdens for cancer patients in Venango County, as the foundation offers assistance without income restrictions. The game, which Cranberry won 39-36 over Brookville, also served as the team’s senior night.
