Campus to hold annual Veterans Day event

PennWest-Clarion — Venango will hold its annual Veterans Day event at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, in the campus’ Robert W. Rhoades Student Center auditorium.

This year’s event is titled “A History of Service: Saluting All Veterans.”

The keynote speaker will be state Rep. R. Lee James.

James’ family has a long history of public service, including four generations of his family who have served in the military.

His grandfather served in the U.S. Army and his grandmother served in the Marine Corps during World War I. His mother served in the Navy and his farther served in the Army during World War II.

James served in the Navy from 1966-72.

His son and daughter-in-law currently serve in the Army at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Casey Beightol, director of campus relations at the PennWest-Clarion Oil City campus, and James Geiger, senior vice president for advancement at Pennsylvania Western University, will offer welcoming remarks to those in attendance.

Mark Conrad and Jay Stull, advisers of the Venango Veterans Club, also will participate in the ceremony.

Light refreshments will be served following the program.
