The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission has awarded over \$180,000 in grant funding to the Oil Region Alliance (ORA) for the construction of a nonmotorized boat launch at President Township Park, a long-anticipated project aimed at improving access to the Allegheny River. The site, located near U.S. 62 between Tionesta and Oil City, will help close a key gap in the state-recognized Water Trail, offering more opportunities for paddling and outdoor recreation. Additional funding has been secured from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the National Park Service. The project gained momentum in 2022 when property access was granted through an easement, and construction, which will include an access road, parking, and an ADA-compliant fishing area, is expected to begin in 2026. ORA leaders praised the project as a major step in enhancing outdoor infrastructure and regional tourism.
