Children can ‘Bowl With Heroes’ today in Franklin

Local kids have a chance to meet and hang out with local emergency responders this afternoon at Buffalo Street Lanes in Franklin, which is hosting a Bowl With Heroes, a free event for kids under 18, from 1-3 p.m.

Buffalo Street Lanes owner Ryan Rudegeair said the event is the last of three this year organized by the Greater Oil Region Bowling Association (GORBA). The first two were held at Seneca Lanes in Seneca and at Mt. Joy Lanes in Knox, he said.

“It’s an event for kids to bowl with local police, fire and ambulance crews,” he said, adding that Franklin police and state police, Franklin firefighters, members of Community Ambulance Service, and possibly Sugarcreek firefighters will be at the event.

Buffalo Street Lanes will have pizza.

“GORBA did this last year at Seneca, and they decided to expand it to three locations this year,” Rudegeair said. “This is our first year participating.”

He noted that as of Friday afternoon, some spaces were still open. To sign up, call (814) 432-4310.
