State dog wardens will canvass Venango County throughout March to ensure all dogs are licensed and vaccinated.
Under Pennsylvania law, all dogs must be licensed and wear a tag on their collar. Owners of unlicensed pets or those without current rabies vaccinations face fines of up to $500 per violation, plus court costs.
Standard annual licenses are $10.80, while senior citizens and persons with disabilities can purchase them for $8.80.
Residents can obtain licenses at the Venango County treasurer’s office, through local agents Agway and the Venango County Humane Society, or via the county website.
