Franklin man pleads guilty in drug case handled by AG office

A Franklin man pleaded guilty Tuesday to selling methamphetamine and fleeing from police while intoxicated after a drug sale in 2021.

Clint Alan Donovan, 42, pleaded guilty Tuesday before Venango County President Judge Marie Veon to a felony count of possession with intent to deliver (methamphetamine) and a misdemeanor count of DUI.

A number of other charges against Donovan were dropped.

He will be sentenced July 21, according to a press release from Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry.

Prior to his arrest, police had been observing Donovan’s activities and identified him as a potential drug trafficker, the press release from Henry says.

Donovan was arrested in the summer of 2021 following a high-speed chase as he attempted to flee law enforcement near Hermitage, according to a criminal complaint filed by the state Attorney General’s Office.

Police determined that Donovan threw a bag containing a large quantity of methamphetamine out of the vehicle window as he fled, the press release said.

The bag contained 379.78 grams of meth and 5.35 grams of fentanyl as well as 14 oxycodone pills and three morphine pills, according to the criminal complaint.

While in jail, Donovan made phone calls to three co-conspirators allegedly involved in a meth and prescription pill-dealing ring, the press release said. The others, Robert Haney, 50, and Thresea Haney, 48, both of Oil City, and Kayla Thompson, 28, of Grove City, were also charged.

In November 2022, Thompson took a plea deal and pleaded guilty to a felony count of conspiracy-manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver.

The case against the Haneys continues to make its way through the court system.

During the investigations of these four, agents seized methamphetamine, fentanyl, various pills and 13 firearms, the press release said.
