Franklin teacher holds book signing

Darrellyn Freeman, local author and Franklin Area High School art teacher, holds her first book, which she wrote and illustrated, and which she signed for Brookville Area School District elementary student Tenleigh Fiscus.

Franklin Area High School art teacher and newly published author Darrellyn Freeman held a book-signing Friday in Brookville for her debut children’s book, Spazzle and Rada: A Tale of Friendship and Bravery. The event, part of the Brookville Area School District’s “Read Under the Lights” program, featured Freeman reading from her book, which she both wrote and illustrated. Families in attendance received signed copies, and students took part in activities organized by PATHS, staff, and community members. Freeman, a Brookville alumna and Pennsylvania Art Education Association representative, said her story blends whimsical illustrations with symbolic lessons meant to encourage compassion and bravery in everyday choices. The book is available on Amazon in paperback and hardcover.
