Honeywell building has been under new ownership

The former Honeywell building at 1345 15th St. in Franklin has been under new ownership for a couple of months, according to information from the Venango County website.

The Venango County parcel viewer shows that the building was purchased by RCGriff Holdings LLC on March 30 for $2.3 million.

No further definitive information about the new ownership or the projected use of the building has been obtained by the newspaper at this time.

Honeywell fully vacated the building early this year, after announcing in March 2022 that it would be closing the Franklin facility.

At that time, Caroline Morelock, a senior external communications specialist with Honeywell’s corporate headquarters, had said the reason for the closure was to “move work to existing Honeywell facilities” in order to “streamline operations and better serve our customers.”

Venango County commissioner Sam Breene had also noted at the time that office and engineering jobs had already been sent to North Carolina several years before, leaving about 100 manufacturing jobs.

He had also said Honeywell would be moving those manufacturing jobs to Mexico following the Franklin closure.

Honeywell had occupied the structure since around the early 2010s when it took over from Sperian Fall Protection, formerly known as Bacou-Dalloz.

According to news archives, Bacau-Dalloz was originally Miller Equipment, a longtime local manufacturer of harnesses, lanyards and other fall protection equipment.
