Humane Society sets ‘dogs off floor’ event

From staff reports

Venango County Humane Society has set “Getting the Dogs Off the Floor,” an event Saturday at which volunteers will build Kuranda beds for dogs at the shelter.

Kuranda beds are an elevated, cot-style bed with a chew-proof design.

The humane society says when dogs are given beds, they have less stress and they sleep better. The plan is to have enough of the Kuranda beds assembled so every dog at the shelter has one.

The building event will start at 10 a.m. and go until 2 p.m. A picnic lunch will be served to those who participate.

Anyone who is interested in helping may call or send a text message to (814) 671-5283 to get more information and to reserve a specific time to work.

An open house also will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the shelter. Refreshments will be served and a door prize will be awarded. There is no fee to attend the event.
