Man charged for screaming at golfers, breaking into garage

A Franklin man is facing charges for screaming at golfers at a local course and breaking into an elderly couple’s garage while under the influence of methamphetamines Saturday morning in Sugarcreek Borough.

Franklin state police said in a criminal complaint that Wade Geer, 42, was driving his vehicle on Route 427 while impaired by methamphetamines at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday when he drove into the parking lot of a golf course.

Police did not identify the course in the criminal complaint, but the address aligns with Sleepy Hollow Golf Course.

Geer “was so impaired he believed people were in his vehicle attempting to kill him,” the complaint said.

Geer exited his vehicle and began screaming that unknown men were trying to kill him, and he started running around the golf course with a pool stick screaming at golfers, the complaint said.

He then ran onto an adjacent property and approached an elderly woman in her yard, “screaming at her to get her guns,” the complaint said.

The woman went into her house and locked the doors, and she observed Geer kicking in the door of her attached garage, causing damage to the door jamb, the complaint said.

Geer entered the garage and took a large crescent wrench, and a trooper ordered him at gunpoint to drop the wrench, which he did, according to the complaint.

The trooper then took Geer into custody and took him to UPMC Northwest for a blood draw, the complaint said.

Geer was charged with felony counts of burglary-overnight accommodations; person present bodily injury crimes and criminal trespass break into structure, and misdemeanor counts of DUI-controlled substance-impaired ability, simple assault, criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking of movable property and disorderly conduct.

He was also charged with a summary count of public drunkenness and eight summary traffic violations.

He was arraigned and placed in the Venango County jail after being unable to post bail.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled June 24 in Central Court.
