New publishing company to host book launch party Saturday in OC

From staff reports

Hollow Oak Press, a new publishing company based in Oil City, will host a book launch party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the meeting room of the Oil City Library to celebrate the release of its debut anthology, “The Wordsmiths.”

The anthology features a collection of campfire-themed short stories from both local and global authors that are told within the framework of a larger novel.

The novel follows the unlikely reunion of a group of former friends who reunite in the wake of a death to tell a round of stories.

Entrance is free and welcome to all who want to attend, and drinks and food will be provided.

Books will be available for $15 at the launch event. They can also be ordered online at hollowoakpress.com/bookstore/.

The event will feature readings from The Wordsmiths, as well as discussions about the process of creating the anthology and the formation of Hollow Oak Press as a local business.

Speaking at the event will be Amanda Pica, founder and editor-in-chief; Jessica Ritchey, associate editor; Austin Gray, layout editor; and Scott Richards, creative consultant.

Hollow Oak Press was started with the goal of finding new and emerging voices in speculative fiction and giving their work a home, and, more than that, building a community, according to a press release from Hollow Oak Press.

The project has been supported in part by the ARTS Oil City Creative Ventures Grant and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
