No one injured in river rescue in Reno

From staff reports

No one was injured Thursday afternoon when a pontoon boat got stuck on rocks because of the low levels of the Allegheny River in Reno.

The incident occurred in the river by Allegheny Boulevard in the area of Schwebel’s, and Sugarcreek police chief Bob Wenner said assistance was needed to get the boat off the rocks.

There were about three to five people on the boat, as well as about four dogs, and Wenner said no people or animals were injured.

Dan Marvin with the Reno Volunteer Fire Department said the Oil City and Franklin departments both used their boats for the rescue.

Venango County 911 said the call came in at 12:50 p.m. and the scene cleared at about 2:15 p.m.

Seneca firefighters also responded, 911 said.
