OC man facing charges for fleeing from police

An Oil City man is facing charges that accuse him of fleeing from police and driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol early Thursday morning in Franklin.

Franklin police said in a criminal complaint they tried to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Cody Blair, 34, at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday in the 300 block of 13th Street.

Blair refused to stop his vehicle and instead sped away on Route 322, the complaint said.

He eventually came to a stop at the dead end of Washington Street, where he exited the vehicle and fled on foot into the woods where police apprehended him, the complaint said.

Blair admitted he had been smoking marijuana and drinking, the complaint said.

Police found a vape pen with a small amount of marijuana in it when they searched Blair, the complaint said.

Blair told police he had a medical marijuana card but police found it had expired, the complaint said. The complaint notes that Blair’s drivers license was also expired.

Blair has been charged with a felony count of fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, misdemeanor counts of DUI, flight to avoid apprehension/trial/punishment and possession of a controlled substance, and five summary traffic violations.

He was arraigned Thursday and placed in the Venango County jail after being unable to post bail, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled Wednesday in Central Court.
