OC school district sells supply building property

From staff reports

Venango County Judge Robert Boyer has approved the Oil City School District’s sale of its central supply building at 1113 E. Second St.

Boyer issued his ruling following a 20-minute hearing this week in Venango County Court.

Eric Hutchinson purchased the property for $45,000, and school district business manager Susan Fisher said the sale is expected to close Aug. 1.

The school district had been using the building as a storage facility.

Real estate agents Cynthia Moon and Bob Murray testified at the hearing that the $45,000 asking price was a fair market price.

Fisher also testified at the hearing that procedures were followed in accordance with the school code.

“We had to post a sign on the central supply building and five more on telephone polls in that area,” Fisher said. “The sign said there would be a hearing if there was anyone who wanted to dispute that.”

No one appeared in court to dispute the sale, Fisher said.

Two petitions had been filed before for other buyers, with one buyer backing out after court approval and another backing out before a hearing could be held.

“The school code requires there to be a hearing any time one of our buildings is sold,” Fisher said. “Because those sales fell through, we had to have it done all over again.”
