Officials are asking Oil City residents to avoid the Allegheny River area between the Wye Bridge and the sewage treatment plant as multiple agencies continue searching for a person who may have fallen from the bridge Wednesday night. Fire Chief Tim Alex said the initial call came in around 11 p.m. with limited details, and crews searched until early Thursday morning before resuming later that day. On Thursday night, police received a report from a woman saying her son, Jason Firster, was missing, and investigators are working to determine whether the incidents are connected. As of Friday afternoon, boats, drones, dogs and numerous fire and rescue teams from the region were involved in the ongoing search, with officials stressing the investigation is still in its early stages and asking the public to stay clear of the river while crews work.
