Paving project begins in Cranberry, Rockland townships

Work has begun on a $4.1 million resurfacing project on more than 10 miles of roadway in Rockland and Cranberry townships.

Work will include milling and paving, drainage and guiderail updates, shoulder backup and sealcoating.

Project roads include:

– East State Road (Route 2006) — from Route 257 to the intersection with Hill City Road (Route 2015) in Cranberry Township; 3.6 miles.

– Rockland Cranberry Road (Route 2013) — from the East Sandy Creek Bridge to Route 322 in Rockland and Cranberry townships; 2.6 miles.

– Deep Hollow Road (Route 2035) — from Route 322 to Bredinsburg Road (Route 2006) in Cranberry Township; 4.2 miles.

A portion of East State Road is also expected to be closed for about one week beginning Aug. 21 for the replacement of a pipe culvert.

An 8.6-mile detour will be posted.

Motorists may encounter lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers for the duration of the project.

The contractor is Commercial Asphalt Supply Inc. of Slippery Rock.

The project is estimated to be complete by spring 2024.
