Community Playhouse Inc. will stage “Circle Mirror Transformation,” an adult play by Annie Baker, this weekend at the Oil City Moose Lodge on Halyday Run Road.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets are $15 and reservations can be made by calling 814-677-7469. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.

“Circle Mirror Transformation” takes place in a community center in Shirley, Vermont, and centers around a small group of people from different walks of life, each struggling with personal challenges, as they enroll in a six-week creative drama class.

Marty, an acting teacher played by Pam Watkins, conducts the class.

Those who signed up for Marty’s class are Schultz, a recently divorced carpenter played by Jim Nash; Lauren, a reserved high school junior played by Kaitlynn Moore; Theresa, a former actor played by Chelsie Mesa; and Marty’s husband James played by Bob Crongeyer.

They connect through acting exercises that are harmless at first but unfold into much more as they work through their personal problems searching for meaning in everyday life.

Through the exercises, the characters reveal their vulnerabilities and hidden desires, leading to moments of both humor and heartbreak.

The show is directed by Joyce Dittman, produced by Deb Mitchell and stage managed by Cindy Hargenrader.
