Proactive health measures taken at UPMC Northwest event

The “Especially for You” health expo, hosted Wednesday by UPMC Northwest and local health organizations at the Seneca Volunteer Fire Department, drew a strong turnout with dozens attending within the first half-hour and an expected 200–250 by day’s end. Formerly called “Especially for Women” and now open to men, the event offered a wide range of free screenings — from cholesterol and blood glucose to hearing, vision, stroke, and osteoporosis — along with health information tables on topics like cancer care, cardiac rehab, nutrition, substance abuse, and hospice services. Organizers noted the move from Cranberry Mall to the fire hall provided better accessibility, and the impact was immediate as several attendees were advised to seek follow-up care after screenings detected potential health issues.
