Red Cross worker Neysha Alvarez prepares John McCreary of Oil City, who donated blood Wednesday at the Oil City VFW post. The VFW holds a blood drive each month to help the Red Cross keep the supplies up. Red Cross supervisor Paul Ernewein says the agency is actively seeking all blood types, but supplies of O negative and A negative are especially low. Upcoming drives are scheduled Dec. 14 at Franklin High School, Dec. 19 at Oakland United Methodist Church, Dec. 21 at the Titusville YMCA and Dec. 28 at the Tionesta fire hall. Interested donors can visit www.redcrossblood.org or call (800) 733-2767 for more information or to make an appointment. (By Richard Sayer)
