Cub Scouts Trenan Smith (from left), Gabe Martz and Jack Winters were the top placers in the Colonial Drake District Pinewood Derby held Sunday at the Cranberry Mall. Smith of Franklin Cub Scout Pack 37 was the winner. His car beat out 39 other cars from across the region to take the top spot. Finishing second in the competition was Martz of Clarion Cub Scout Pack 51 and third place went to Winters of Knox Cub Scout Pack 55.
Cub scouts Kruz Vargason (from left), Jonah Rossey and Dakota Avril placed in the Lion division of the annual Colonial Drake Pinewood Derby. Vargason of Seneca Cub Scout Pack 111 won the division. Two Scouts from Oil City Pack 17, Rossey and Avril, placed second and third. Reserved for the Scouts in kindergarten, the Lion division represents the boys first time making the famous wood race cars.
