State police Sunny Day Camp slated Sept. 28 at Edinboro

From staff reports

Troop E of the Pennsylvania State Police in Erie will hold its third annual Sunny Day Camp on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Edinboro University.

Registration for the free camp will begin at 9 a.m., and the camp will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine.

The camp open to any child or adult of special needs who reside in the Troop E area of Venango, Erie, Crawford and Warren counties.

State police say the program was designed so no one would be excluded from learning about the law enforcement agencies serving their communities.

Morning activities include an opening ceremony and displays of first responder vehicles, followed by lunch.

Afternoon activities include a variety of games and events of various skill levels from which participants can freely choose. A T-shirt is also provided to each participant.

During a closing ceremony, attendees will be presented with certificates. The day will conclude with music and T-shirt signing by troopers, volunteers and fellow participants.

The camp is funded by donations under the non-profit organization Boosters of Camp Cadet. All participants must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver for the duration of the day.

Registration is limited to 200 and must be completed at www.sunnydaycamp.org. Volunteers and donations are also being accepted.

Questions can be directed to troopers Cindy Schick at (814) 898-1641 or Michelle McGee (814) 676-6596.
