Titusville market changes locations for rest of year

From staff reports

The Titusville Open Air Market has a new home for the remainder of the season.

It will be held at Big G’s Tire and Auto on Route 8 across from Donovan and Bauer Auto Group, according to a press release from the Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce.

The market held a grand re-opening Saturday.

“The market changed locations after Cocca Development rescinded permission for the market to take place on its property in the corner of the Dollar Tree parking lot where the market had been held so far for the 2017 season,” Titusville chamber director Emily Altomare said.

“While the market and host organization Titusville Renaissance are sorry to be leaving downtown Titusville, organizers and market participants alike are excited to be welcomed by Oil Creek Township and happy to once again be able to offer handmade products of the non-edible variety,” she said.

In addition to produce, other farm products and handmade items, the market is planning to host special events and theme days.

The market and its host organization are encouraging local businesses to once again partner with the market now that additional fees will not be imposed by the city, according to the Titusville chamber.

The next special event will be Salsa Saturday on Saturday. The event will feature a homemade salsa contest and all of the tomatoes, peppers, herbs and other vegetables needed to make sweet and spicy recipes.

The chamber said Thursday Night Markets have been suspended for this season, but the market committee hopes to reinstitute a healthy line up of musical acts and other entertainment next year.
