Trimmer rescued after being stuck 70 feet up tree

From staff reports

A tree trimmer escaped injury after he became stuck upside down in a tree in Kennerdell for several hours Monday morning.

Tim Kriebel, a volunteer with Emlenton Fire Department, said the trimmer got stuck at about 9:30 a.m. Monday about 70 feet up in the tree he was trimming at 505 South Tunnel Road.

His legs were tangled up in the ropes, which cut off circulation, and his harness twisted, Kriebel said.

By about noon, Seneca volunteer firefighters, who were the first to arrive on the scene, had used the Emlenton Fire Department’s tower truck to get the tree trimmer right-side-up.

Firefighters had him back on the ground safely at about 1:15 p.m., Kriebel said.

Seneca, Kennerdell, Rockland and Emlenton fire departments were all called to the scene.

Community Ambulance Service checked the man thoroughly and said he wasn’t hurt, Kriebel said.
