Utica man charged for illegal possession of firearm following poaching

A Utica man, Collin Stone, 28, was charged after game wardens learned he had been hunting deer and other wildlife despite his hunting privileges being revoked since 2017. Reports, photos, and social media posts showed he had illegally killed multiple deer and other animals. Stone later admitted to several violations, and wardens recovered his phone, firearm, and deer heads. Because of a prior felony conviction, he is also prohibited from possessing a firearm. Stone now faces a felony firearms charge, multiple misdemeanors, and 26 summary hunting offenses. He was jailed after failing to post bail, with a preliminary hearing set for Dec. 10.
