The Valley Grove Education Association came out in force to petition the Valley Grove School Board to execute a “fair and equitable contract” for the teachers.

VGEA President Amanda Culver addressed the board on behalf of the organization at Monday night’s Valley Grove School Board meeting, stating the district’s teachers have been without a contract since June 2016.

Board President Melanie Andersen said the board is hoping to resolve the issue soon and that it is working on getting set up for the next meeting with the VGEA.

Superintendent Kevin Briggs said the school district’s attorney will meet with the VGEA’s representatives to schedule the next meeting.

“They’re in the middle of their second year without a contract, and we’re hoping it’s resolved soon,” Briggs said.
