Valley Grove awards contracts for high school projects

Valley Grove School Board members awarded contracts Monday for upcoming construction projects at Rocky Grove High School.

Board members heard a presentation from Bob Englebaugh and John Finn with the HHSDR firm and Jim Vizzini with CJL Engineering before accepting the winning bids, which were opened Jan. 17.

The contracts are as follows:

General construction to Hudson Construction Inc. for $512,000.

HVAC construction to Renick Brothers Construction Co. for $1,857,100.

Electrical construction to Penn Ohio Electrical Co. for $172,700.

The total construction contracts that were awarded add up to $2,489,800.

Englebaugh had said last May that estimated costs were $680,000 for the units, $100,000 for the electrical improvements and $80,000 for the automatic temperature controls.

The air conditioning will partially be paid for by ESSER grant funds, and the rest of the money will come from the district’s capital project fund.

The gymnasium air handling unit will cost $380,000, and the elevator improvements will cost an estimated $120,000.

The elevator improvements and air handling unit will also be paid for with money from the capital projects.

In another matter at Monday’s Valley Grove meeting, Superintendent Kevin Briggs said there haven’t been any changes to the district’s health and safety plan.
