Dog dies in Oakland house fire; no one injured

One dog died in a house fire at 217 Deets School Road in Oakland Township on Tuesday evening, however no one else was injured.

According to Oakland Township Fire Chief Chris Weber, the cause of the fire, which was reported at 4:25 p.m., remains under investigation. The single-story residence was “fully involved” when firefighters arrived on scene, Weber said.

No one was home at the time of the fire, which resulted in the total loss of the structure, according to Weber.

In addition to Oakland Township, Venango County 911 said that fire departments from Cherrytree, Chapmanville, Cooperstown and Rocky Grove, as well as Community Ambulance Service responded to the scene, which cleared at 10:28 p.m.

A “very minor” rekindling occurred at the scene around 7:31 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to Weber. Oakland Township, Cherrytree and Chapmanville fire departments responded to the scene, which cleared at 11 a.m.
