Elementary students celebrate Halloween

Lois Smith, an Oil City resident, places candy in the bag of Olivia Grove, age 8, during the Trunk or Treat held on the Southside. Olivia is a third grader at Seventh Street Elementary School. The Trunk or Treat tradition has been ongoing for approximately 20 years, according to Seventh Street Elementary School Principal Amy Highfield.

Students from all over the county participated in different ways for Halloween this year, from trunk-or-treating, to parades and classroom parties.

Seventh Street and Smedley Elementary school joined together for a trunk or treat at Seventh Street, while Hasson Heights Elementary also enjoyed a trunk or treat for students on their own campus.

Central Elementary and Valley Grove had parades for their students, as parents went and watched their children march around in their costumes.

Sandycreek and Cranberry Elementary schools hosted classroom parties for their kids to have fun on Halloween.

All of the kids at the events held on Halloween seemed to enjoy getting into the spirit of spooky season with their schools’ long-standing traditions of celebrating.
