Fire chief updates group about 911 adjustment

Franklin fire chief Jim Wetzel gave a brief update about an adjustment regarding Venango County 911 during Wednesday’s meeting of the county’s Firefighters and Fire Chiefs Association at the Clintonville fire hall.

Wetzel said the process for reporting complaints about 911 is being overhauled. The changes will adjust the process for fire departments to lodge complaints against 911 and set up a process for 911 workers to make complaints about the fire departments and relay that information to them.

“We complain about them (911) and when they do good we don’t praise them,” Wetzel said. “We have plenty of problems on our end, and how will we ever know about it if no one tells us,” he added.

In another matter, Mariel Jeanner at from Seneca Volunteer Fire Department was elected treasurer of the association. Longtime treasurer Jack Weaver declined to continue in that role.

Frank Machokas with President Volunteer Fire Department will continue as president of the association, and Terri Weber from Oakland Volunteer Fire Department will stay on as secretary.

The association’s next meeting will be in April at the Emlenton fire hall.
