The Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce is urging people to shop small this holiday season by offering free local delivery.
“We came up with one idea that may be a light to business owner and shoppers alike, the Chamber Carriage,” she said.
Purchases will be delivered between Friday and Monday.
Lewis said that while this is not a magic solution to save local shops during the “small business Christmas crisis,” but it is a small thing that can be done to help now that COVID-19 mitigation guidelines have become more stringent.
“Local businesses are doing everything they can to keep their doors open … they are struggling every day with financial uncertainty going into the long winter ahead,” Lewis said.
The Christmas Carriage is unable to deliver food or alcohol, Lewis said, but urged shoppers to purchase gift certificates from venues, as well as take out options provided by those individual businesses.
