Infant formula recall is linked to botulism

ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula is part of an ongoing investigation into 13 cases of infant botulism across 10 states.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health is warning parents about a national investigation into 13 cases of infant botulism linked to ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula, a milk-based formula for babies up to 12 months old. One Pennsylvania infant who consumed the formula was hospitalized in October but is now recovering. ByHeart has expanded its voluntary recall to include all products in homes and stores, including Whole Nutrition Infant Formula and Anywhere Pack pouches. The FDA notes that ByHeart formula makes up less than 1% of the U.S. market. Infant botulism is rare but potentially fatal, with symptoms such as poor feeding, weak head control, and trouble swallowing. Anyone noticing these signs should seek immediate medical attention. More details are available at fda.gov.
