From staff reports

The Franklin Silver Cornet Band is offering its Junior Silver Cornet Band, a summer outreach program geared toward musicians in eighth grade and younger who have at least one year of instrumental or lessons experience.

The program was last held in 2019.

Musicians will complete four rehearsals before performing during the Silver Cornet Band’s concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 15, at Bandstand Park in Franklin.

The rehearsals will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, June 12-15, at First Baptist Church in Franklin.

Participants will practice music for the concert while enjoying snacks, games and meeting students from other schools.

The director of the junior band is Daniel Cartwright, assistant bandmaster of the Silver Cornet Band and middle and high school band instructor in the Oil City School District.

Several Silver Cornet Band members will also be present to help musicians during rehearsals.
