Keystone alum to run for construction of school’s playground

Eric Say, a 52-year-old alumnus of Keystone School District, is preparing to run his first marathon to help raise funds for the U.S. Army SPC Ross A. McGinnis Memorial Playground — a tribute to a local Medal of Honor recipient and Keystone graduate. The project was inspired by fellow alumnus Brian Coll, who noticed the outdated elementary playground and lack of visible recognition for McGinnis during a school visit. Coll and his wife pledged a significant donation and encouraged Say to launch the “Run Eric Run” campaign, with Say running the marathon on June 1 in San Diego. The playground will include a life-size statue of McGinnis and aims to honor his legacy while offering an updated space for children. Construction begins in June, but more community support and funding are needed to complete the project.
