Seneca man facing kidnapping, other charges

From staff reports

A Seneca man is facing kidnapping and other charges for threatening his former girlfriend with a BB gun.

Oil City police said in a criminal complaint they were called Wednesday evening to a house in Lewis Alley where Brenton Shaw, 44, had showed up “brandishing a firearm” that police later determined was a black BB gun.

Shaw’s former girlfriend told police she had broken up with Shaw a few weeks earlier “due to him being both verbally and physically abusive,” the complaint said.

She said Shaw had knocked on the front door and another house resident yelled for him to enter, whereupon he pointed what she thought was a handgun at her and told her “she is coming with him,” according to the complaint.

Shaw is facing a felony charge of kidnapping to inflict injury or terror, misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats, simple assault and disorderly conduct and a summary count of harassment.

He was arraigned Thursday, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled Wednesday in Venango County Central Court.
