To recognize National Stroke Awareness Month, UPMC Northwest will host two free events on May 29: a community health fair with stroke screenings from 8 a.m. to noon (by appointment only) and a stroke awareness walk at 1 p.m. at the hospital pavilion. The screenings include stroke risk assessments, blood pressure, cholesterol, blood glucose, and A1C tests, which require a 12-hour fast. Registration is required by Tuesday by calling 814-676-7154. The walk will feature educational resources, expert access, and a sweet treat for participants, and is open to the public.
