1 injured in Route 257 crash

From staff reports

An Oil City man was injured in a two-vehicle accident on Route 257 in Cranberry Township on Monday afternoon, state police in Franklin said.

Travis Dempsey, 26, of Oil City, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt south on Route 257 just before 4 p.m., police said. His vehicle rear-ended a 2016 Nissan VRS driven by Keith Jones, 38, also of Oil City, police said.

Jones had slowed down to avoid hitting another vehicle, which was turning right onto Education Drive, police said. The collision occurred when the front end of Dempsey’s vehicle struck the rear of Jones’ vehicle.

Dempsey was cited for following too closely. He was taken to UPMC Northwest by Community Ambulance Service for an injury to his hand, police said.

Dempsey’s vehicle was towed from the scene, and Seneca Fire Department assisted with traffic control, police said.
