DEP website provides updates on Reno water

From staff reports

The state Department of Environmental Protection has created a community page that is designed to keep Reno residents and businesses updated on developments in the community’s water crisis.

The website contains the DEP’s results of its investigation, background information and additional links.

It was back on July 20 when a discharge from a brine storage tank was identified, prompting Venango Water Co. to issue a “do not consume” water advisory to its more than 200 residential and business customers. The DEP has since cited Fairview-based Petro Erie with numerous violations.

Tom Decker, the DEP’s regional communications manager, said via email earlier this week that the agency is continuing to sample water and that there is no time frame on when the advisory will be lifted.
