Dining for a Cause to help Relay for Life team, retail group

From staff reports

The Franklin Retail & Business Association has partnered with the Chocoholics Relay For Life Team to present “Dining for a Cause” this month and in May.

This event highlights the food service businesses in downtown Franklin while also giving customers the opportunity to support a worthy cause.

The Chocoholics Relay team has presented this event in May for several years. New for 2023, the Franklin Retail Association is offering the event this month as well.

On selected dates and times, participating restaurants will donate a portion of their receipts to these organizations. February supports the non-profit Retail Association and May supports the Chocoholics team.

The donations received for the Retail Association from this month’s event will help the organization buy Christmas lights for Franklin’s downtown and provide marketing support for the city’s small businesses, said Stephanie Felmlee, one of the owners of Amy’s Closet and Sassy’s Gifts in Franklin.

Felmlee worked with Chocoholics team member Connie Shull to organize the partnership.

The donations received in May by the Chocoholics will go toward cancer research, support for cancer patients, and vital treatments and screenings.

“It’s a great way to help with a local non-profit in our community and benefit the Relay For Life — all of that money stays in the community,” Felmlee said.

The schedule for the event is available in some Franklin businesses as well as on the Retail Association’s Facebook page.
