Deadline nearing for ecology camp scholarship

From staff reports

The Bartramian Audubon Society scholarships specifically target females and males who are 14-17 years old with an avid interest in birds, nature, and/or ecology to experience the rare opportunity of studying nature at the National Audubon Society’s Hog Island, Maine, Ecology Camp.

The intense six-day, five-night program allows young people to work with some of the country’s best-known scientists and artists on advanced art, conservation, ornithology and ecology.

Ornithology, or bird study, is used as the entrance to the world of nature and ecology.

Teens do not need to know much about birds. Teens who are interested in Art (Drawing, Painting, Photography or Writing) and/or Biology, Environmental Science, Ornithology and Ecology may apply. Teens must be residents of Butler, Lawrence, Mercer or Venango counties.

Interested people should contact Dr. Gene Wilhelm at (724) 794-2434 or genewilhelm@aol.com for details, application, and/or questions.

Applications will be accepted until Sunday, Sept. 10.
