Four facing drug charges after incidents in Cranberry

Three men and a woman are facing drug related charges after state police were called Monday morning to Sheetz on Route 322 in Cranberry for reports of a fight.

Franklin state police said in a criminal complaint they arrived at Sheetz and found Steven Forsell, 38, of Oil City, who told them he didn’t remember much since the day before, when he got into an argument with a man called “Squeak” and was cut on the face with an unknown object.

Forsell, who only had socks on his feet, seemed to be under the influence of a controlled substance, the complaint said.

Police placed Forsell under arrest for public intoxication and found multiple clear plastic baggies containing blue pills of fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine in the pocket of his hoodie, then he was taken to the Venango County jail on warrants, the complaint said.

Police returned to their barracks and were told that the gold colored SUV involved in the Sheetz incident that fled before police arrived was back at Sheetz, the complaint said.

Police found the vehicle and its occupants at Aldi’s where two men, later identified as Jay Miller, 42, of Pittsburgh, and Aaron Spanik, 43, of Blandburg, were standing by the driver side of the vehicle and a woman, Brittani Scott, 38, of Marion Center, was seated in the front passenger seat, the complaint said.

Miller gave police a false name but then gave his real name and said there was an active warrant against him, the complaint said. He was then taken to the Venango County jail on the warrant.

Scott and Spanik were taken to the Franklin state police barracks and interviewed, the complaint said.

Scott said she was just a passenger in the vehicle who was invited along for the ride by Spanik, the complaint said. She said they were giving Forsell a ride to Oil City from Coalport and Spanik and Miller both said Forsell had drugs and they would be paid in drugs for bringing him to Oil City, according to the complaint.

Spanik said he was asked by Miller to give Forsell a ride to Oil City and after he picked the others up during the trip Forsell “began acting strange” and doing drugs in the vehicle on the ride, the complaint said.

When they reached Sheetz, Scott said Forsell “began to freak out” and he and Miller started to argue, the complaint said. Then, Scott said Forsell went into Sheetz to retrieve the drugs on his person in the bathroom and Miller followed him in to get Forsell and the drugs, according to the complaint.

Forsell was bleeding and someone in Sheetz called the ambulance, Scott said, so the trio left Sheetz and went to Walmart before returning to Sheetz in search of the drugs, the complaint said.

When police searched the SUV the group was travelling in they found fentanyl, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to the complaint.

Forsell was charged with three felony counts of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance, a felony count of possession of a controlled substance, four misdemeanor counts of use/possession of drug paraphernalia and a summary count of public drunkenness.

Scott was charged with felony counts of contraband/controlled substance and criminal conspiracy/conduct and misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance, marijuana-small amount personal use and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.

Spanik and Miller were charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance, marijuana-small amount personal use and use/possession of a controlled substance.

Miller was also charged with misdemeanor counts of criminal conspiracy/conduct and false identification to law enforcement officer.

Scott and Forsell were arraigned Wednesday and placed in the Venango County jail with bail denied. Both were detained on parole violations.

Spanik was arraigned Monday and placed in the Venango County jail after being unable to post bail.

Preliminary hearings for those three are scheduled Wednesday in Central Court.

Miller was taken to the Venango County jail on an outstanding warrant. His arraignment date hadn’t been set as of Wednesday afternoon.
