Jeeps group raises more than $4,500 for Two Mile improvements

The Oil Valley Jeeps presented a check for $4,569.71 to Two Mile Run County Park’s capital improvement fund on Wednesday.

The donation represented proceeds from the group’s Ten Mile 4 Two Mile Jeep Run event last month. But it wasn’t the only thing about the event that helped the park.

The group’s goals, of both encouraging Jeep owners to develop off-road skills while also promoting the park, was an “irresistible challenge,” said Bill Kapp on behalf of Oil Valley Jeeps.

All in all, said Kapp, the event totaled 750 man hours from 68 volunteers and 400 machine hours to create the trails within the park where Jeeps could tour.

The steering committee, said Kapp, consisted of himself and Debb Kapp, Lou An and Kent McFadden, Patty and Eric Elliott, and Karen and Don Cramer. The “Werk Crue,” said Kapp, “has been grateful for and humbled by the contributions of many, many individuals throughout the process, and feel honored by their support.”

Volunteers to help keep the event running came from several counties and several different communities of outdoor lovers, said Kapp.

A survey circulated to people who registered Jeeps for the event – a total of 141 in this inaugural event, said Kapp – returned results that said 73 percent of participants learned something new about Two Mile Run County Park by coming to the event. Another 32 percent of respondents came to the park for the first time ever to attend the event.

And all the respondents said they would do it again, Kapp said.

“Oil Valley Jeeps is proud to be a community supporter of Two Mile Run County Park and has committed to continue participating in ongoing trail work in cooperation with the park’s trail committee,” Kapp said.
