Staff attendance up, student disciplinary referrals down: Franklin schools’ year in review

The Franklin Area School Board learned Monday that staff absenteeism and student disciplinary referrals declined in 2024-2025. Superintendent Eugene Thomas presented an AI-assisted year-in-review highlighting fewer behavior issues, a 20% rise in staff attendance, and $2.7 million in savings from cost-cutting measures. The district plans to focus on improving student attendance next year. Board members also shared insights from a recent education conference, including discussions on AI use and student mental health. Additionally, the board received an update on the Sandycreek Elementary crash and approved several policy and personnel changes.
