Venango County 4-H participants receive awards

The Venango County 4-H organization recently held its animal leadership banquet and awards ceremony.

A total of 73 4-H participants who completed applications for scholarships were recognized, and several 4-H members received special awards.

Kevin Tharan and Lauren Tharan were chosen as outstanding leaders.

Two junior 4-Hers (ages 8-11) and two intermediate 4-Hers (ages 12-14) received outstanding member honors. The intermediate outstanding 4-Hers were Gwen Tharan and Hunter Pentz, and the junior outstanding 4-Hers were Maddyson Robertson and Tanner Pentz.

Karter Hoffman and Avah Burke were named the new 4-H king and queen. Peyton McGiffin and Garret Schick were first runners up and Alivya Hartzell and Justin Weyand were second runners up.

Venango County 4-H also honored five people — Cathy Runninger, Larry Shaffer, Susie Blair, Connie Willyoung and Marilyn Brandon — as Friends of 4-H for their support.
