Franklin Elks to host Down Syndrome gathering

From staff reports

The Franklin Elks Lodge on Buffalo Street is hosting an in-person get-together Saturday for individuals who have been diagnosed with Down Syndrome, their families and their friends.

The event is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. and is open to the public. Free pizza, cookies and refreshments will be available.

The purpose of the get-together is to determine the need for a Down Syndrome support group in northwest Pennsylvania.

A discussion will be held to gather information regarding specific issues and needs the Down Syndrome population experiences in rural Pennsylvania.

The meeting will also identify resources available to families with those needs.

Future educational and fun events will also be discussed.

For more information, call the Elks at (814) 432-8119 and leave a message for Craig or Brenda Westover.
